Today was a little bit of an odd start, but I finished drawing another portion of my client’s tattoo for today:

This is the piece for my client’s chest, the rest is the body of the kraken (head and crown), then I’ll have to freehand the arms and tentacles on to fit, there’s just no way to design it on paper and have it look correct, so I’ll be working on that for a good bit today. I skipped my warmup due to time constraints.

Here’s the progress we made today — the sketchy lines are done in a light grey wash that will fade dramatically. Speed was the primary concern with those, I was literally “scratching” the lines in for future reference.
What went well?
- Loads of art time. Really. Loads.
- An exciting tattoo project.
- I woke up incredibly refreshed after one night of a new mattress.
What needs work?
- I still need a good massage to loosen up my upper back and shoulders, though I’m not hurting as bad today as I was yesterday.
What did I learn?
Going HUGE for your first tattoo is one helluva commitment.
