Another good night’s sleep, but I woke up a little later than usual, so my morning was a bit chaotic with the kids. I still managed to get to the cabin early and knocked out my first priority — editing and uploading the video I filmed yesterday.

Then I tackled my warmup page:

I had an interesting realization half-way through the ellipses under the wave-curve. If I ghost my line, then do light pressure to get a super-thin “guide” I can drop and add more pressure to clean the shape with confidence. The rest of my warmup ended up being one of the cleanest exercises I’ve ever done, and it didn’t take much longer. I think that’s a good habit to embrace.

After that, I made some small edits to the thorax skeleton design based on client feedback:

After working on something for a client, I wanted to study a bit more, so I started doing organic shapes with cross-contours. Just to try getting my head wrapped around form again.

And then I finished off a sleeve for one of my favorite clients — but didn’t get photos. It was a session full of great conversation, and the end result of the tattoo was rather stunning, in my opinion. I’ll get healed photos of it soon!

What was awesome?

Keeping up with my practice. And expanding some of the exercises.

An awesome day full of art and tattooing my favorite client.

Meeting with Chris for CreateQuest.

What needs work?

I didn’t track my time as effectively today as I have been, but my thoughts have been a bit scattered.

Today also felt a bit rushed, for some reason.

What did I learn?

I need to create more space for thinking and selecting.

And don’t forget to check out CreateQuest – a project that I’m working on with Chris Beaven. It’s our mission to bring creatives together in an empowering community with a focus on improving the world, not just changing it.
