I’m absolutely beat. My sleep has been much less than ideal lately, and it’s starting to have a HUGE impact on my impulse control, hand-eye coordination, and willpower.
I still haven’t stopped drawing or creating, but I have a very LONG list of things to do — and deadlines to meet — over the next couple of days. So I’m going to get some great sleep tonight if at all possible. I’m talking in bed by 8 p.m.
On Saturday I worked on repairing an old tattoo:

I’m not at all happy with the progress on this. It needs about a gallon of black added to it, but I didn’t do the original design, so I had a lot of trouble figuring out how ANY of it was supposed to flow. I just focused mostly on cleaning the lines and looking for places to tuck some black until I’m able to go back into the design.
On Sunday and Monday (today) I did warmup pages both days, then spent a ton of time on CreateQuest — working on the overhaul. Here’s one of the warmup pages. I’m not sure where the physical warmup page from Sunday ended up, but my son may have had me make a paper airplane out of it.

What was awesome?
I’m loving the CQ overhaul. It’s beautiful, simple, and usable.
What needs work?
My sleep is making things oddly impossible.
What did I learn?
Just stop taking on other people’s work. Get in bed extra super-duper early when you have three kids. Because nobody can tell you how your night will go. It can be a disaster.
And don’t forget to check out CreateQuest – a project that I’m working on with Chris Beaven. It’s our mission to bring creatives together in an empowering community with a focus on improving the world, not just changing it.
