I decided to do something a little bit different today. Or go back to doing something I used to do. I love keeping a sketchbook, so I set up a digital sketchbook! 😂
The goal is…only use traditional sketchbooking brushes in my “sketchbook” image. Nothing special, no crazy digital colors, just sketchbook.
But first — I did my warmup:

Then some figure studies / gestures — something I haven’t done in a good, long while:

I feel like you can definitely tell that I’m rusty, here.
But I wanted to keep sketching and playing with ideas in my head:

This one was a ton of fun to work on!
What was awesome?
Sketching…just because I can!
A full day “off” from work!
What needs work?
I’m not sure. I was really happy with today. I feel like I need to get back into gesture drawing, because finding a “flow” to the body (and face) is something that’s very important for my career.
What did I learn?
A day for drawing is a happy day.
And don’t forget to check out CreateQuest – a project that I’m working on with Chris Beaven. It’s our mission to bring creatives together in an empowering community with a focus on improving the world, not just changing it.
