Since my wife’s morning sickness is starting to ebb — we’re decorating today!

And, since it’s Sunday, this is also my Weekly Review day and family day, so I didn’t have much time to draw.

I’m trying out a new (for me) program today — ArtRage! I gotta say, I’m not a huge fan of the interface, but I AM a huge fan of recording “scripts” to make video files of JUST the canvas.

That will come in handy as I get back to teaching, for sure.

ArtRage for gesture drawing felt incredibly awkward, too. I think I’m just used to the brush engine for Krita, so I’ll probably go back to Krita for day-to-day use and just use ArtRage for instruction purposes.

And, after gesture drawing, I helped my wife wrangle the kids into various art projects for the holidays. She loves to decorate!

What went well?

  • Painting time with the kids.
  • Keeping the chain going.
  • Trying out some new software for digital drawing.

What needs work?

  • I need to familiarize myself a little bit with ArtRage if I want to use it to teach.
  • More study time on Sundays!
  • My sleep quality.

What did I learn?

Everyone has different preferences for their tools — myself included. Find what works and stick to it!
