I wanted to get an early start today, before I got frustrated with anything else, so I started my warmup as soon as I was done exercising this morning. The kids were distracted with strawberries!

I don’t think my arms were quite ready for my warmup after lifting weights! But I made it through.

I had some really challenging poses in my gestures today. But I discovered some new tricks with Krita and my drawing tablet today, so that was a nice little bonus!

I did a bonus round of gestures today, trying to think less and not pick my stylus up off of the screen. It was more about feeling the pose, moving my hand, and letting whatever happens, happen. They feel sloppy to me, but toward the end of the exercise I was actually able to just let it flow.
I’m still trying to find my “style” of gesture drawing, but the things I’m picking up along the way, practicing, and implementing are slowly turning into representations that I don’t have to think so much about. It’s a long road, but an enjoyable one.
Again, I was hopeful that I’d be able to get more drawing time in today, but errands cut into my available time. Which means it was unavailable time.
My wife had to get IV fluids again today. This pregnancy is really taking a toll on her and the rest of the family. Wish us luck!
What went well?
- Just letting go with my gestures.
- Drawing early.
What needs work?
- Still needing to get art time under control on errand days.
What did I learn?
Family comes first. 🙂
