Mandala Madness

I decided to switch my daily planning up a little bit today. I’ve been bullet journaling to keep track of my to-do list and schedule for a couple of years, now. But it’s not doing the trick anymore.

So I’m using Google Calendar to schedule out every important thing that I need to do instead of adding it to a list. If it’s not on the calendar, then it probably doesn’t get done. Running a business can be overwhelming, and scrambling through a to-do list just doesn’t get the work done efficiently enough.

That’s probably boring and pointless to a lot of people, but I wanted to give a little bit of insight into what goes into planning my day for as much output as possible.

I was running a tiny bit behind-schedule for my drawing time today, and I feel like you can tell I was rushing through my warmup.

Still, I got to do my warmup at the cabin with some incense burning and some music blaring. It was a good start to my day!

Next up on the to-do list for drawing was a mandala for a client today. I’m admittedly behind-schedule on drawing again. Which is a big reason for me putting everything on the calendar, so I don’t get so overwhelmed. If there’s no room for it…then it won’t go on my calendar! No more over-booking!

I had a ton of fun designing this mandala, though. I wanted to do some different shapes than I normally do in mandala designs. This one will be a trick to tattoo, though! I’m still excited after yesterday’s circle tattoo to take on something challenging like this.

Aaaand another mandala. 🙂 With a rose. This is for tomorrow’s client. This design will be wrapping around another tattoo that I have to repair, along with some blackwork that I’ll have to plan on the spot. But I have a good idea of what I need to do, so I’m pretty excited to get to work on this one!

The mandala tattoo for the day. It took a bit longer than I expected it to.

So many mandalas today. So many.

What went well?

  • Lots of drawing time.
  • I met with the one and only Chris Beaven.

What needs work?

  • Line quality in the tattoo that I did. I may need to be more assertive with clients.

What did I learn?

I’m not sure right now. I’m kindly tired, honestly. 🙂
