I had the pleasure of working with an old client to repair some work that she got somewhere else today. I didn’t have enough time to do my normal warmup page, but went straight to work bright and early to work through the puzzle of repairing a tattoo.

I don’t have a decent “before” photo, but it was definitely a challenge to execute a good repair on this tattoo. This is session 1 of 2. I’ll be getting back into it sometime in January, most likely.

What went well?

  • Giving a client a tattoo that she can feel proud to show off.
  • TONS of tattoo time on a large-scale piece. šŸ™‚

What needs work?

  • I don’t like approaching designs without a plan, and that’s what I had to do today.

What did I learn?

I need to study MORE roses and get better at improvising when necessary. On a repair like this one, there just wasn’t a good “plan” that I could put in place beforehand.
