Note: This is a cumulative post for 76 and 77.
I only got 4 hours of sleep the night before last. That doesn’t happen very often. I usually fall asleep shortly after my head hits the pillow, and I stay asleep unless the kids wake me up. You can ask my wife, she gets furious at how well I sleep.
But I didn’t sleep well the night before last, and I didn’t get my post up yesterday. I realized I hadn’t done any drawing until the kids were done with dinner, so I colored with my kids for about 30 minutes before they went to bed. That was my art time.
Since I had such a horrible day yesterday, I wanted to start TODAY off right, so I went to the cabin and got straight to work:

A little bit last-minute, but I managed to get my client’s drawing ready for later today. This is also very unlike me, letting things get “down to the wire.” But…I pulled it off.

And this is probably one of my favorite tattoos, now.
What went well?
- Getting in drawing time EXTRA early.
What needs work?
- Keeping on top of my art practice while I’m building new systems.
What did I learn?
My annual review process takes up a TON of time and energy, but it’s worth the effort when I can squeeze every last bit of awesome out of my day.
