Yet another poor night’s sleep, but I managed to recover again and get to Affinity for a day of tattooing.

It was an interesting challenge today, as I wasn’t able to place a stencil, so I scribed the design directly onto the skin with multi-colored sharpies and got to tattooing:

I’m an incredibly structured, careful person, so this was a huge challenge for me.

I’m happy with the final result, though. It’s difficult to see in the photo, but I used opaque grey ink instead of grey washes to tie in better with his pre-existing color tattoo.

What went well?

  • A successful skin scribe tattoo.

What needs work?

  • Looking at the tattoo later, I wish I’d taken the smoke higher, but I wanted to leave space for building a new design into the shoulder cap area.

What did I learn?

I have more art in my head than I realized. 🙂
